Maltesers

August 8th, 2007 by Terry

Maltesers are little balls of honeycomb covered in milk chocolate. They don’t have any taglines or anything on the pack, instead just pictures of some of the Maltesers, this is due to their extensive marketing campaign.

They’re advertised showing that they have low amounts of fat and calories, but I got the big bag here so it wasn’t really low at all.

I’m actually not too sure if I like these much or not. Biting down on the honeycomb always gives my mouth a weird feeling, and other than that there isn’t much here. The chocolate is nice, I’m just not too fond of honeycomb, it’s just a bit weird, though it is done well with the Crunchie bars.

Still, I think the regular bags are under 200 calories, so if you’re looking for a light chocolate treat then you can certainly do worse.

Note that this is the big bag (58.5g), so the amount of calories will differ from a regular bag. This had 295 calories, 4.6g of Protein, 36.7g of Carbohydrates and 14.4g of Fat.

I’ve tried these once. I bought them at a store in Atlanta that usually carries a lot of import food. I don’t know if they had melted or anything, but my opinion was that they tasted like a stickier version of the “Whoppers” we have here in the US. Other than that, its basically the same product.

    From Wikipedia:

“A similar confection is manufactured in the United States. Known as Whoppers, they are chocolate-coated malted milk balls produced by The Hershey Company.”

There you go then, Austin. :D

Sera - Sorry I should explain better, it’s malt honeycomb, a mix of the two flavours.
