Snickers

After reviewing the Starbar yesterday and saying it was better than the Snickers, it made me realise I hadn’t even reviewed the Snickers yet! So I went out and got one, and here we are.

The Snickers bar is small in terms of length, but is a very thick bar, full of nougat, caramel and peanuts. There’s a lot of each here, and like the latest ad campaign it has, does seem very manly. (P.S. Since writing this, the advert has long since been off the TV, but a quick Youtube search will bring it about).

As far as I’m aware, except for the Snickers Duo, which is basically a King Size Snickers, there are no other varieties of this bar on our market. It’s strange because I’m sure this is a top selling bar, but maybe there’s only so much they can do with this.

Regardless, this is a bigger eat than the Starbar, but just to confirm it now, I do still prefer the Starbar. It’s a little sweeter, and the chocolate tastes a little better too. Not to take anything away from the Snickers, because I’ve just fallen back in love with these, but it’s just not quite as nice as the Starbar.

Still, if you want a manly eat, and want to “get some nuts!”, then go for this. It’s got 319 calories, 5.9g of Protein, 34.1g of Carbohydrates and 17.8g of Fat.

There’s soooooooo many versions of this in the US it’s not even funny! Normal, Dark, Shrek (the nougati s green, eww), Almonds, Cruncher, “More Satsifying”, Crispy….

    well, you get the idea.

Nevr been a big snickers fan myself either. :P

i think there’s a crunchier version in the UK…..it has puffed rice too

Sera - Sounds like we’re not missing out on much then. It really is quite limited.

alice - I think you mean the Crunch bar, which is a totally different thing altogether. Or maybe the Toffee Crisp or Double Decker, I’m sure they both use puffed rice/cereal in some form in those bars.

nope……ive definitely seen a snickers cunchier bar……..with peanuts and all!

They have these in Home Bargains, and Almond Snickers as well.

  11. Terry

Which Home Bargains is that then? I’ve never seen any around.

They had them in Perry Barr, Aldridge, and Liverpool- but i’m guessing none of them are local to you!

‘fraid not. I looked on their website, turns out the nearest one is in Kettering. Is it worth going there? As in is there a lot of foreign chocolate there that I wouldn’t see otherwise (such as the almond Snickers which I’ve never seen online or in shops), or not?

They have loads of weird stuff but its never the same twice. Pretty sure the almond Snickers was a limited edition, but they have Roast Almond Dairy Milk quite often, and a fair bit of Lindt.

Ok thanks. I’ll be in Kettering next weekend so if I can be bothered I’ll go and take a look, got my student loan now so there’s really no excuse not to.
