Lotte Maple Pie Pie no Mi

Pie no Mi

This is a limited edition flavour of the usually chocolate flavoured Pie no Mi, from Lotte of Japan. What you have here is a large box of maple filled pastry pies, covered in sugar.

It’s a brilliant concept. They really do look like little pies, and they have the consistency of pies as well, the pastry breaks in like a fresh pie from a local bakery, but instead of a hot meat filling (cough), you get a sweet maple cream filling instead.

The maple cream here is delicious, the only problem is that it’s overpowered a little by the pastry. It does come through, but it’s a little bit of a struggle. When it does though, it’s a wonderful sweet flavour.

One thing I loved about these was that I got a burnt one in the box, that tasted just like burnt pastry. I’m used to such a thing from my mum’s, and my own dodgy cooking over the years, and I found it strange but almost funny that Lotte replicated such a thing here. Whether it was just a bad pastry or not, I didn’t really mind.

Despite being so sweet, these aren’t as sickly as I thought that they may be. These are a really good snack, very quirky and absolutely delicious, and if you can find them (limited edition, so not easy) then I highly recommend you try them

The entire box of ~20 pastries has 451 calories, 5g of Protein, 45.3g of Carbohydrates and 27.7g of Fat.
