Twix Peanut Butter

July 25th, 2007 by Terry

I said a few months ago when I reviewed the Twix that I wished they would do a Peanut Butter version, as it seemed like it would work. It seems the boys at Mars listened to me and made a peanut butter Twix, and here’s my review of it.

The pack looks pretty snazzy. Big splashes of red and dark brown on it, what that has to do with peanut butter I don’t know, but I like how hip it is. As far as I know Americans also call what we in England call biscuits: cookies, and biscuits there are a completely different thing. So whilst we in England call the base of the Twix biscuit, here it is called cookie.

Moving swiftly on from that odd situation, the first thing that hits you when you open the pack is a powerful peanut butter smell, and it’s a pretty nice smell. My bar was half melted and broken up which was a bit annoying, but I didn’t pay anything for it so I can’t complain. You’ll also see in the picture that the biscuit base of the bar is…black. Yeah, I don’t know if that’s normal in America but I found that pretty weird. It’s a very crunchy base, a bit more so than the English one I think.

The peanut butter is on top of it where the caramel would normally be. It’s quite thick and very soft, and I really liked it. The chocolate was melted all over it and it made the whole thing go together really well. I was left with a greasy reisdue on my fingers from the chocolate which was a bit odd, but I can put up with it.

The bar is a bit dry due to the biscuit and the peanut butter, but the taste is excellent. Crunchy and soft, with a strong peanut butter flavour that most readers here will be familiar with. Better than Reese’s? I don’t think so, but still very good.

The bar has 280 calories (160 from fat), 5g Protein, 28g Carbohydrates (19g of which sugars) and 17g Fat (8g of which saturates). If you like peanut butter and chocolate, you’ll like this, it’s as simple as that.

Yeah I would if I could, but this was sent to me by a friend, and I haven’t seen it in any online stores or anything. I have seen it on eBay though, it just depends how desperate you are to try it. :D

i’d love to try it,it looks scrumtious! ah such its such a shame they dont sell it in the uk! :( was it similar to reeses or peanut kitkat? long live the day when they bring these to the uk! :D i cant ever work out ebay huh :P

  5. Terry

Similar to Reese’s I think, the peanut butter tasted a bit more natural than the stuff in the Kit Kat, though I haven’t had one of them in months since I reviewed it, so my memory of it may be a bit off. And yeah, can’t wait until more things like this are released here.

I’ll be honest and say I could do without the competition, but go for it. :D

And I’ve been happier, I tried not to smile too much as it would look silly, and my hair got crappy in the rain. Ah the excuses…

  8. babycakes

nah im only joking :P it wouldnt look silly it would just show you were very pleased with your chocolate *laughs out loud* Rain!! its ment to be summer boohoo :(

  9. Terry

Yeah tell me about it. I’d be annoyed by it if I ever went out, or lived in Hull. ;) And whilst it may mean I look pleased, I look like a fool when I smile too much, so you have to make do with that.

  10. babycakes

ah theres nothing wrong with the pic :) me too to be honest i’d even rather live in bath :o *shocked* hehe :P i just be it will be sunny over christmas :( which is bad because thats pig out time isnt it..and you dont feel bad cause you have to wrap up :D do any of your friends from uni know you do this site :) ?

  11. Terry

Thanks, and I wouldn’t hold out for sunny weather over Christmas if I were you. I don’t pig out even at Christmas but I can see your point. And I haven’t exclusively told anyone, no. It’s hardly a secret but it wouldn’t interest anyone I know, and they may even think I’m a bit weird…so best left alone unless they stumble upon it. :D

  12. babycakes

thats what i was thinking it would be funny if all your mates just stumbled across and your pic was up..how would you explain that one away ;) i dont usually pig out at christmas just…eat a little extra :) :)

  13. Terry

I don’t think I’d have to explain anything to them, just say it’s something I do in my spare time, they’d understand, in fact it’d probably explain to them why I buy strangely large quantities of chocolate whenever we go shopping together.

  14. babycakes

yeah thats true..it must look kind of odd :) :) :) ah well it is a bit of fun eh! do you know the trophy biscuit bars?..or does anyone b-cause i was wondering what they were like?

  15. Terry

I think I’ve heard of them, but haven’t had them. Have you had the Cappuccino Kit Kats? I saw them in Asda yesterday and meant to pick them up but forgot.

  16. babycakes

yep ive tried them i bought some the other day *laughs* great minds think alike eh! they taste like a regular kit kat but the chocolate is really really strong coffee me thinks..obviously! :D not a very good review but them im not the expert reviewer ;) im looking for a really tasty chocolate caramel wafer finger bar any ideas? :D

  17. Terry

Sounds like I’ll have to get some then, and give them an expert review. :D Still after caramel stuff? I recommended the Twix before, I guess there are also…Taxi bars? They have caramel and wafer, not sure about anything else…

  18. babycakes

well i have seen loads in the shop..like tunnocks, taxi and a ainsley harriott one :O but i dont know which one to get *laughs* i have som many hard choices in my life dont i :P yeah they are tasty they should bring them out in the chunky variety mmm :D i cant believe it 4 weeks and the summers over i dont know whether to smile or cry *laughs* :D :D

More like “man look at the pictures”! I look totally different now and it’s only been half a year. Thanks for commenting and reminding me of this, James!
