After forgetting to put up a review yesterday, I figured I would do the kind thing and put two up today, so here’s the second review for today, the Happy Hippo Biscuit from Kinder. The Kinder range of hazelnut cream filled chocolates are one of the tastiest everyday chocolates around, and this one is no exception, as these things are awesome.

What you get is a small hippo biscuit, about 8cm in length. There’s no chocolate here at all, it’s just a regular wafer biscuit, with a milky covering on the bottom of the hippo. It has eyes and a mouth and everything, which is quite a nice touch.

There are three distinct sections to the hippo: the nose, the torso, and the back end. These sections all break off easily from each other. Inside the hippo are two distinct sections, there’s a milk cream on top of a hazelnut cream. The two don’t mix, they just sit there.

And the flavour is out of this world, rich and creamy and a delicious hazelnut taste. It’s not sickly because it’s so small, and the hazelnuts and milk go together superbly well. These things are so cheap that I can do naught but recommend them, unless you have a nut allergy.

Yes, who’d ever thought that a Hippo could taste so good? :P

alice - Maybe you should go in frowning, though is he then likely to ask if you’re buying a happy hippo to cheer up a sad girl?

Sera - It is a slightly odd animal they chose, yes, I always feel a slight pang of sadness when I bite off his nose.

Those remind me of the Hungry Hungry Hippo game I played when I was little.

Yes, the Happy Hippo is amazing. I once ordered some that shipped from Germany I believe, but I requested the cocoa cream flavour. They shipped me the wrong ones and I recieved the hazelnut counterpart above. It was very good. I later tried the cocoa cream, and believe it tastes better than the hazelnut. But thats just me.

Alyssa - When you were little? You should still play it now, it’s awesome fun!

Austin - I agree actually, I had the Cocoa Cream flavour awhile back and might as well put my review for it up tomorrow, but I think it’s excellent as well. Just depends whether you like cocoa or hazelnut more really.
