Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

One of the most famed of all American chocolate. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups set the standard for chocolate-peanut butter hybrids. And finally I’ll be reviewing them.
My pack only had 2 cups in for some reason, as I had a smaller pack, but I am aware, and more used to, the 3 cup packet. The pack is pretty plain looking, a nice orange all over, with the slogan ‘Milk Chocolate Reese’s 2 Peanut Butter Cups’, they don’t need to explain any further because everyone knows what these are, and the name sort of gives the game away anyway, which is something that doesn’t happen with most chocolates.
In the pack are two chocolate cups, inside small black packets, removing the chocolate cup from its packet shows that the chocolate is greasy, very greasy. It has a tendency to melt very easily which can be messy. But these are so good that it doesn’t really matter.
Biting into it reveals a thin layer of chocolate, and in the centre is all peanut butter. And it tastes so good, the peanut butter is salty and yet sweet with the chocolate, it isn’t too sickly, and it’s so more-ish. I’m glad I’ve only got one pack of these because I’m afraid I’d find myself munching through pack after pack until I was sick. The 2 here though were filling enough, but they leave you wanting more, so much more…
Each cup contains 115 calories, 11.5g of Carbs (10g of which sugar), 6.5g of fat (4.5g of which saturates) and 2g of Protein. I highly recommend these, if you are looking for any chocolate with peanut butter, this is it. This is the original, and is still the best.

That’s so weird that your packages used to contain three cups. Ours have always had two.
I remember there used to be “King Sized” packs that had four cups in them, but they may be long gone in our fight against obesity. (har har)
Have you ever had the miniatures?

Sorry I obviously worded this post badly, it’s not that they used to contain 3, they just do contain 3. I’m pretty sure that the pack I reviewed for this was from America though, which would explain why there were only 2 cups here.
And I’ve never had the miniatures, in fact the only other edition of the PB Cups I’ve had were the White Chocolate Egg variety, an Easter edition most likely, and thought they were pretty good.

hey can anyone tell me the nutritional value per cup in the 3 packs sold in the uk? for some reason they dont show any

http://www.hersheys.com/products/details/reesespeanutbuttercups.asp
Information can be found there. Those facts are based on the 51g package, and I’m fairly sure the 3 packs are bigger than that. So I would guess you add another half value onto each of those figures. e.g. for the calories, they would have 420 per pack, as opposed to 280. I’m just guessing here though, so in case that calorie amount scares you (it scares me!) then don’t take my word as gospel.

wow..thanks for getting back to me so quick..i hate it when they have no value on the bars especially my favourite guylian praline seashells and the wonka whippi-scrumtious fudge mallow delight as i can no longer eat them :’(..love your review site though and its gives you a chance to eat chocolate for work
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:18 am
Not a problem. I hate it as well, I would have thought it would be compulsory by now to have all the values on the bars but some of them seem to get away with it. And if you think I’m getting paid for this, then you’re sadly mistaken. I already have a full time job and a University course, this blog isn’t earning me anything.
June 2nd, 2007 at 7:40 pm
well i just kind of ment you have a reason to eat loads of chocolate lol the rest of us have to find an excuse to make us feel better *laughs*…
i thought you had to have values on everything now but as you say some get away with lol probs cos if they do put the value on the back no one would buy it eg hiigh!
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:13 pm
Well I was hoping that eating the chocolate would make me gain weight, I don’t want to go into my life story but suffice it to say I’m badly underweight for my height, but it hasn’t helped at all! And I’m not sure how they get away with it, I know the Reese’s stuff isn’t manufactured here so it doesn’t matter to them, but I guess it isn’t actual law yet that you have to put the values on the pack.
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:25 pm
your lucky then eating and eating not gaining weight
wow! i have to eat lots of chocolate to gain weight aswell but i put it on easy
lol ahh yeah thats true though i suppose! bit annoying though!
:@do you like doing these reviews
?
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Well let’s see, I get to eat lots of different chocolate, so I think that’s a yes!
Also I recently got a webcam so my pictures will have improved quality soon. I was thinking of doing some video reviews of me literally showing the chocolate, eating it and then describing it, but I’m not sure if people would like that.
Maybe I’ll do text reviews and put video reviews on Youtube or something. Who knows? Exciting times ahead though!
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:34 pm
yeah! that would be funny downloading a speaking chocolate review! go for it gotta try new things eh
! worth a try lol least you know what to say when people ask what you do in your spare time!
June 3rd, 2007 at 2:51 am
Yeah I don’t think it’ll impress the ladies too much.
“So what do you do for fun?”
“I EATS CHOCOLATEZ AND TELL PEOPLE ABOOT IT!”
“Ah…”
Yeah, maybe not.
June 3rd, 2007 at 9:42 am
lol…well you never know it might float some peoples boats….or maybe not lol
ah well least you know which would be the best chocolate to someone though eh

June 3rd, 2007 at 4:29 pm
the uk packs of 3 are also 51g so would you say it has the same nutritional value as the american 2 pack?
June 3rd, 2007 at 4:47 pm
I take it you bought some just to confirm it eh! I assume they’re the same then, 280 calories isn’t too bad then.
June 3rd, 2007 at 7:44 pm
yeah i did lol it says the weight is 51g so i was assuming they were the same values…just wanted a second opinion?
because 280 would be really good for it
i havent tried them before..so i hoping they might be like the peanut kitkat mm:P lol thanks for gettin back to me..
June 3rd, 2007 at 8:36 pm
I think these are bettter than the Peanut Butter KitKats, there’s more PB here, and it seems to be of a better quality. I think they’re delicious, and this is coming from someone who really doesn’t like PB much at all.
June 4th, 2007 at 7:35 am
i know i was a bit..:S about trying them because i hate peanut butter! but i like the kit kat so i think ill give it a go and pick some up on my way home from college!
June 4th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
I thought you already picked some up? Or were you just checking the weight?
June 4th, 2007 at 4:13 pm
i was just checking the weight to double check..OK Omg they are gorgeous!! god bless hersheys and nestle
:D
June 4th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Awesome, glad you like them. I’d have hated to recommend something only for it to turn out to be horrid.
June 5th, 2007 at 7:41 am
well you got it spot on mmmm
damn i cant get anymore either cos the shop sold out
what a crime *chuckles*
June 5th, 2007 at 11:49 am
My shop’s got loads of them in, but they’re pretty expensive so not many are sold. How much were they for you?
June 5th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
i got them for 49p 3 pack! what about you? do you know where i can find out the values for the nutrageous bar as my local shops has tons *laughs*
June 5th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
49p? Lucky you, they’re 69p up here. Absolute ripoff, but I get them for free sometimes anyway, which is why I reviewed them. And the Nutrageous bars should be somwhere on that link I posted earlier, shouldn’t they? We don’t have any but I still managed to find one anyway. It’s very nice, should have a review up in a week or so about it.
June 5th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
by the way i mean the 60g one lol
June 5th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
its says the info isnt avaliable for the 60g bar :S i can get em cheap then
lucky me…*smile* & *laughs*
June 5th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
That’s lame, I have no idea then unless a Google search brings anything up. And yeah you’re very lucky indeed. I would have thought a University shop would make things cheaper, but it seems to be the exact opposite.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:50 am
nope its all the 51g bars! err :@ lol yeah you would think so but then its like hospital shops and garages its more expensive then a little corner shop *laughs* i should stock up while they are cheap..they are now the 5 choc bar added to my 5 fave sweets etc..lol
what are yours just wondering?
June 6th, 2007 at 11:58 am
My 5 favourites? Tough choice…
In no particular order, they’d be:
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Kinder Bueno
Ferrero Rocher (Just had one and remembered how awesome they are)
Azuki Bean KitKat (I have an old review on it)
And probably the Starbar, or Peanut Butter KitKat, I’m not sure.
Either way I like nuts in my chocolate! What are your top 5?
June 6th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
ok..mine in no particual order would be…
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups

Kit Kat Peanut Butter
Time Out/Boost
Flyte
Munchies….i think
i also absoluty love sour starburst and cadbury snacks id put them in if they were chocolate
whats funny is i hate nuts/peanut butter but i love it in choc! weird…:)
what made you decide to do this blog anyways?
June 6th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
Flyte? I had one of those yesterday, they’re terrible! Milky Ways are much better.
Aren’t Cadbury Snacks chocolate? I think I reviewed them awhile back, so I hope they are!
And I was just bored one night, and set the whole thing up, then just kept adding a review each night when I was bored, before I knew it I had people actually reading the thing and it just became a thing that I did.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:42 pm
mm yeah i like milkyway too but flytes are good
yeah but i kinda put cadbury snacks under chocolate biscuit rather than bar if ya know what i mean
ah well i spose its a good pass time as i said earlier good eat excuse to eat chocolate and not feel guilty
im trying to find a website that reviews like flapjacks/cakes/biscuits like mcvities etc..so maybe you could do some sometime?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
…i still cant find the nutritional info on that bar errr lol!
June 6th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
I was actually considering doing that, but I wasn’t sure if it would become too expensive or whatnot. But if people want me to then I’ve got no qualms about it.
June 7th, 2007 at 7:35 am
well i like things like the mcvities muffins, flapjacks biscuits etc.. and it would be nice to know what other people think
so if you can
thanks..lol
June 7th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
Yeah ok, I’ll see what I can do then.
June 8th, 2007 at 7:36 am
ve you tried the snickers flapjack with peanuts in? its soo nice mm:P its odd though cos i really hate nuts!:O
June 8th, 2007 at 7:51 am
I haven’t but I’ve seen it in the local shop. Off the top of my head the other brands they have are…Galaxy, M&M’s, Terry’s Chocolate Orange…and maybe a Mars one?
Plus all the other random cakes they have there as well. A ton of stuff!
June 8th, 2007 at 10:36 am
ooo i wouldnt mind a reeses peanut butter flapjack..the cups as the topping mm:P i think i should make my own chocolate range
*chuckles*
June 8th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
That sounds delicious, and I can confirm all those varieties except Terry’s Chocolate Orange, it was actually Jaffa Cake flavour. D’oh!
June 8th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
ooo yum
oh god why is it every food thats nice is baaad for you
are they all flapjacks?
June 9th, 2007 at 1:42 am
Not all of them, some are just these huge cake…things. They look good though.
June 9th, 2007 at 7:47 am
ooo like mars muffin that is nice
be better with more cream inside though cos they only give three dots of cream in it :O the shock lmao
June 9th, 2007 at 9:54 am
Muffins, that’s the word I was looking for. I might get some today but it depends how my day pans out.
June 10th, 2007 at 7:48 pm
the good thing about cakes is they dont melt in this heat unlike chocolate all over ya fingers it goes! its tooooo hot!!
June 15th, 2007 at 7:45 pm
can you review any thorntons bars? id like to see a review of the snickers flapjack or mars muffin one time if you can get hold of one of them
June 26th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
